introspective periscope : peeking inside since Y2K ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- better than fair weather backatwork - ninteenth of november, 2002 "we are imposters in this country."~tori amos i missed the leonids. the sky was clouded over and my vision groggy after cough syrup induced sleep. but we did see a ring around the moon last night on the way home from my parent's house and that was pretty damned gorgeous. not the rainbow that nacho and i saw...but this huge staring eye directly over our heads that refused to blink. i am infatuated with the night sky. on the busride to work today, i got to thinking about wasted time. how the bus takes away chunks of my life every week and that i pay for it. still, it gets me to work where i waste more of my time to make money to pay the bills. to live. to eat. to save. and we're getting way better at saving....better like its a game to see how much we can save and scrimp. a challenge, even. and the no more eating meat thing is helping out...and the no more eating out thing is on its heels. and munching on my leftover veggie chili (even better than it was the day before) gets me thinking its gonna be even better than eating out. there's something about healthy you've just got to dig on. but back to wasted time. the time i spend not on a bus and not in work is becoming less and less and as it becomes so, it becomes more and more valuable to me...more and more treasured. the time i spend with you. the time we spend with brian. with jonathan. with pewse....these moments are becoming the most special yet. and with the winter drawing its cold fingers around us, we nestle in for the season and bundle up for going out in the cold... and its getting so....that...there just aren't as many reasons to go out too far because the special ones are already around. the most wonderful people circle round me...the handful of friends that they tell you you'll have, after the drifters and aquaintances move on. i couldn't be more lucky. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- .what came before. - .what happened next. a diamond at the bottom of the drain - 20 october 2017 |
