introspective periscope : peeking inside since Y2K ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- he didn't know it was a holiday but not all of the holidays are on the calendar carbon copy - twenty first of april, 2002 "i'm gonna burn one down."~ben harper i had a really really good time yesterday, don't get me wrong. what started out as rainy and discouraging in the sky changed to clear and comfortable and full of promise. nacho came down from erie in the morning and toby spent the day on the porch putting the grill together. nacho and i shopped for the food and toby....kept putting the grill together. and brian and jonathon came over in the late afternoon, after we'd made a dozen devilled eggs and salad and had put the portabellas in to marinate. and then, when we all got just a little nervous about the grill not lighting and worried that maybe something was wrong, i got mom and dad on the horn and they came down just an hour or two after four twenty, bearing gifts of lemon pie and apple pie. and, even though i was stoned, i liked the mellow company of all of those lovely people. even my parents. and we ate. oh, did we eat. chips and burgers and mushrooms and grilled corn on the cob and salad and did i mention devilled eggs? and then we ate pie. i had a lovely day. and then mom and dad went home and brian and jonathon left again and it was me and nacho and toby and mulholland drive for the second time and toking a little bit more and going to bed with full tummies and a feeling of contentment that can only come from a day such as yesterday, a day of friends and food and merriment. and we will always make merry.
